Emirates Post announces winners of 39th UPU Letter Writing Competition
Dubai, May 18, 2010: Emirates Post has announced the winners of the 39 th UPU International Letter-Writing Competition for Young People on the topic “Write a letter to someone to explain why it is important to talk about AIDS and to protect yourself against the disease”.
Entries of 13 students from UAE schools have been shortlisted for recognition. The competition attracted over 800 entries.
The letter written by Hamad Al Hamli, a student of Al Majd Model School, Sharjah, was selected for the top prize and this will be the UAE entry for the international level competition conducted by Universal Postal Union (UPU) each year, as part of World Post Day celebrations.
The other winners from Arabic schools are Haytham Nael (Al Dhafra School, Al Ain), Mohammed Al Mazruoie (Wadi Al Helo, Fujairah), Ahmad Al Jubaidi (Al Sahel Private School, Sharjah), Maryam Al Kaabi (Fujairah Scientific Islamic Academy), Fatma Al Jamahi (Al Marwa School, Abu Dhabi), Abdulaziz Adel Al Thabat School, Al Ain), Noor Mohammed (Somaya Primary School, Ajman), Hamza Nidal (Al Ahliya School, Sharjah) and Neda Adel (Al Dhafra School, Al Ain).
From the English schools, the winners are Meera Al Zaabi (Al Maali Model School, Al Ain), Shaila Marzuok (Al Wahda School, Sharjah) and Fatma Majid Al Zaabi (Zainab Primary School, Ras Al Khaimah).
The winners, along with their supervisors and teachers from respective schools, will be felicitated by Emirates Post at a function to be held on World Post Day on October 9. The winners will receive cash prizes, along with certificates.
